Testimonials

"I recently completed the six infusion treatment from Dr. Abreu at the Seattle Ketamine Clinic.  I am astounded by the results;  I can say without hesitation that it has completely eradicated any depression symptoms.  I didn’t expect this much relief from the Ketamine."

“My Mom seems so much more relaxed and optimistic and cheerful and can enjoy herself more. It kind of reminded me that she used to be that way when I was a young kid. She's pretty blown away at how much better she feels compared to just one week ago! Thanks so much for helping her get back to her real self."

"I was efficient, clear headed and most notably, the feelings of dread and stress that used to invade my thoughts were gone.

How long does ketamine infusion therapy last?

Initial series of 6 infusions will take place every other day for a period of 12-14 days.  Although we don’t recommend varying too much from this treatment protocol we will customize the treatments to help meet your personal and travel needs.  Subsequent single booster infusions may be required to keep your symptoms at bay.  Resolution of symptoms may last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks

Though ketamine was not originally approved for these conditions by the FDA.  The OFF-LABEL use of ketamine for mental health is very safe and done in a physician controlled and monitored setting in our office.  There will be an anesthesiologist and a paramedic present during your treatment.
Since the use of Ketamine is OFF-LABEL insurance companies or  Medicaid/Medicare will NOT COVER its use for treating depression.  We can only accept cash or credit cards as payment. We can not accept checks of any kind.

Many medications that we use in mainstream medicine have been discovered to be helpful in treating other diseases.  These include Rogaine (Minoxidil) which was originally used to treat high blood pressure was later found to help in hair loss or alopecia.  These medicines represent alternative uses of FDA approved medications.

*Please note: In order to be a patient at Portland Ketamine Clinic you must have a referral from a psychiatrist. We can NOT accept referrals from ANY other mental health care providers incl. MHNP, therapists or psychologists.  Patients will also be required to get monthly referrals from their psychiatrist.

Where do I even start? Let me put it this way: this treatment quite literally saved my life. After years of bouncing on and off meds and in and out of inpatient care since I was 12, 2024 was the year I hit rock bottom. I’d tried every treatment and medication under the sun (except maybe the moon, who knows), but nothing worked.I first went to a clinic that did intramuscular injections. No effect. Zilch. Nada. Zero. Feeling a bit deflated, I found Dr. Abreu’s clinic — one of only two places in Oregon licensed to administer ketamine through IV. Now, let me tell you: this place is CLEAN, cozy, and so inviting that it feels like a spa, minus the cucumber water. Dr. Abreu and Mechelle were upfront and realistic, setting clear expectations about treatment. No fairy tale promises, just a plan that made sense.By the end of my first round of treatments, I wasn’t feeling like a superhero, but as Dr. Abreu said, I’d start seeing results a few weeks later. And guess what? He was spot on! It wasn’t like my anxiety just disappeared (I wish), but now I can approach it with a clearer mindset, making it way more manageable. And energy? I’ve got more of it now than I’ve had in years. I’m even starting to feel like a person again.Since starting treatment, I’ve cut back on my meds and even lost some weight (yes, you read that right). This isn’t a quick fix, but more like a serious investment in your long-term mental health. If you’re even remotely thinking about trying ketamine treatments, stop searching and go here. You won’t regret it!

Wonderful doctor and staff. It has been, and continues to be, a truly life changing experience. I am very grateful for everyone at the Portland Ketamine clinic, and for the treatment itself. I can’t speak highly enough of both.

I have been a client for 4 months now and am amazed at the results. I have tried everything since my teens and over 30 years later I believe I have finally found something that works. The best way to describe it is it makes me feel not so stuck on issues and feelings which allows me to get moving again with my life.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that ketamine treatment has been life changing. I have been on countless medications in every imaginable combination and dosages with little success. I have even had ECT and tried neurofeedback and none of these things have been successful at keeping me out of both intensive outpatient and inpatient programs over the years. With ketamine treatment my good days outnumber my bad days by far and my good days are filled with more vitality and stability. And when I do have bad days they are not nearly so debilitating and hard to rebound from.At the Portland Ketamine clinic I have felt in very good hands. I have felt safe by how conscientiously considered my treatment has been catered to my needs and intended to work within a holistic purview that includes talk therapy, exercise, diet, etc. The staff have been wonderful to work with.I honestly didn’t expect such positive results. I only wish I could have had access to this treatment years ago.

There were two things I wished to know when I was looking into visiting the clinic: 1) does the treatment work & 2) is the clinic, the doctor and the staff any good.First, for me the treatment works. I was wary going into the treatment. I have been on different medications for depression most of my life. All of them work somewhat or the effects fade over time. So far this is the most effective treatment for me.Second, the clinic is a wonderful, professional and knowledgeable place. Dr. Abreu and staff provide a safe and friendly atmosphere. They address any concerns, answer any questions and keep up to date with all developments in the field.

I have struggled with treatment resistant anxiety and depression for decades. 18 years on lexapro, starting after my first child was born, felt like a weak band aid at best. Now in my 50’s, the addition of menopause had put me over the edge. I feel so grateful to have found Portland Ketamine Clinic and Dr Abreu and his incredibly professional and caring team. I feel like I got a reset on mental health.

I had been in a treatment resistant depression for over 24 months before being referred to the Portland Ketamine Clinic. And I'm extremely happy to report amazing results! From my first appointment 2 years ago until now, Dr. Abreu and staff have been professional, friendly, knowledgeable ; creating an environment where one feels encouraged to ask questions, participate in one's own treatment path as well as comforting and safe. After trying a cornucopia of psychotropic drugs, TMS as well as ECT, Ketamine infusions with Dr. Abreu were the only thing that "moved the needle" on my severe depression. I highly recommend this avenue of treatment and the Portland Ketamine Clinic. Carrie McCormick

I’ve been visiting Dr. Abreu and his team for 12 months and the results have been incredibly positive. They facilitate a safe, professional, and comfortable atmosphere. Portland Ketamine Clinic has been a great choice for me and I’d recommend this clinic for anyone looking for great results where they’ve otherwise felt lost with the conventional treatment for depression and anxiety.

We have chosen to err on the side of safety by using more stringent exclusion guidelines than our purposes require when deemed necessary.  We reserve the right to refuse treatment based on our clinical impression.
